This is a splendic photo of the Merrick House, of which I am proud to say I was a former employee and my experience with the community has changed my life to a point that among all my professional talents, I truly found that working with the community and offering my help to the people around us was a fulfilling and unforgetable event which I will never forget..I hope to someday be able to join the Merrick House and offer all my help!

I attented Tremont Elementary in 1949 while living in the old projects on W6th street. I and two other of my schoolmates were chosen to pose for the opening of the Merrick House in the then "new" shower facility. We appeared in the Cleveland Plain Dealer sunday section and i was a minor celebrity for a day!! I remember that they sponsered the Cub and Boy Scouts and also organized sandlot baseball. The ball fields were terrible but i found out that if you could play well there you could play anywhere! After moving to Miami in 1950 i used that experience to get to the national Pony League finals years later.

Merrick House changed my entire life. I met adults there that took an interest and pushed me to get an education. I then worked for Clark-Fulton Community Center. I am very thankful for all that Merrick House has done.
